| Description : |
| Bromazepam (Anxirel ) is a global anxiolytic agent with smooth and superior efficacy. Unlike other Benzodiazepines it has least side effects. Bromazepam reaches peak plasma concentrations within two hours after oral administration. Bromazepam is metabolized in the liver. It effectively removes anxiety and anxiety related various physiological problems. |

| Mode Of Action : |
| Bromazepam (Anxirel ) binds with specific site on the GABA receptors in the brain that enhances the GABA activity and ultimately reduces anxiety |

| Indication : |
| Emotional disturbances: Anxiety and tension states, for anxiety in depressed patients, nervous tension, restlessness anxiety and tension related insomnia.
Functional disturbances of the Cardiovascular & Respiratory systems: Pseudo angina pectoris, tachycardia, emotiogenic hypertension and hyperventilation.
Functional disturbances of the Gastrointestinal Tracts: Irritable bowel syndrome, ulcerative colitis, epigastric pain, spasm and diarrhea.
Functional disturbance in the genitourinary system: Irritable bladder, urinary frequency and dysmenorrhea.
Psychosomatic disorders: Psychogenic headache, psychogenic dermatosis, asthma, gastric & duodenal ulcer, and ulcerative colitis. Emotional reactions to chronic organic disease. Adjuvant to psychotherapy in psychoneurosis. |

| Dose And Administration |
| General Dose : |
| The usual dose is 3 mg twice or three times daily. In severe conditions up to 6 -12 mg twice or three times daily. Treatment should be started with the lowest recommended dose. The maximum dose should not be exceeded.
Treatment should be as short as possible. The patient should be reassessed regularly and the need for continued treatment should be evaluated, especially in case the patient is symptom free. The overall duration of treatment generally should not be more than 8 -12 weeks, including a tapering off process.
Use in elderly: Elderly patients are more sensitive to the actions of Bromazepam. Doses should not exceed half of those normally recommended. The lowest dose which can control symptoms should be used.
Use in Children: Bromazepam is not recommended for paediatric use. |

| Side Effect : |
| Drowsiness, light-headedness in the next day (of administering the drug), confusion, ataxia and amnesia may occur. |

| Bromazepam should be used cautiously in respiratory diseases, muscle weakness and history of alcoholism and drug abuse |

| Pregnancy And Lactation : |
| Do not use during pregnancy, especially during the first and last trimesters, unless there are compelling reasons. The administration of high doses or prolonged administration of low doses of benzodiazepines in the last trimester of pregnancy has been reported to produce irregularities in the foetal heart rate, hypotonia, poor sucking and hypothermia in the neonate. Benzodiazepines have been detected in breast milk. If possible, the use of Bromazepam should be avoided during lactation |

| Over Dose : |
| Manifestations of overdose include somnolence, confusion, respiratory and cardiovascular depression with coma in severe cases. |

| Contraindication : |
| Bromazepam is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Benzodiazepines. It is also contraindicated in severe respiratory failure, myasthenia gravis and severe liver failure. |

| Drug Interaction : |
| If Bromazepam is combined with other centrally acting drugs, such as Neuroleptics, Tranquilizers, Antidepressants, Hypnotics, Narcotic analgesics and Anaesthetics, its CNS sedation effect may be increased. |
